The Apes on Tapes are born in Bologna, in the hot and sweaty summer of 2005. Luca (aka Lagàr) and Giordano (aka Antani) meet in Bologna and both fall in love with Prefuse 73 white hip-hop. Searching for those sounds, they spent two years between productions and live performances, listenings, distinguished samples and “fights” with computers.
In February 2008, their first album You Open came out on Homework Records, followed by a mini-release of remixes by  Meanest Man Contest, Touane, Micamat and Ether.
And here we are in 2011: on January 31st the second ape-like album Foreplays came out, the awaited return 3 years following the previous album. A more personal touch, an important contribution to the rising Italian beatmakers scene. Foreplays appears on several mixtapes, blogs, webzines, and is reviewed ultra-positively on the monthly publication Il Mucchio of February 2011.
Upcoming plans include quite a few remixes and an idea for a project “with voices” in the near future.
