The italian-Belgian collective V O I D, winner of the Open Call 2014 edition, exhibit for us with the project “Shaped Lines”, a magnetic stripe device that shows the activity of sound through acoustic pressure.
Founded in 2013 from Arnaud Eeckhout (Belgium 1987) and Mauro Vitturini (Italy 1985), VOID is a visual sound art collective based in Brussels.
VOID's work questions the experience we have with reality through our perception, and the consequences this has on the way we build our knowledge of things. Their visual and sound installations combine the interconnected areas of perception, sound, language and representation.
The empty, intangible surface, shapeless and intentionless, is like a space to express reality in wilder and more spontaneous conditions. Sound, a phenomenon that shares with emptiness the absence of materials, is then for VOID the key that links visible and invisible, placing their work beyond representation.
An ephemeral device in which magnetic tapes give shape to the action of sound in matter. The tapes are deformed under acoustic pressure, thus making sound visible, materializing the vibrations that our bodies experience.
