Born in Rome in 1969, Lory D started playing music in 1987, scratching at home on hip-pop music. From 1988 he started to nurture his passion for electronic sounds, from house music, acid and techno, being influenced from those who, nowadays, represent the "classics" of the schools of Chicago and Detroit. Now considered a historical Roman DJ, Lory D played in Acid Parties with Mauro Dandini, and also in the first Italian raves of the late 80's. Here, his very active dj story begins, playing in every electro and techno temple, both Italians and abroad, as his sound reached clubs in Holland, New York, Switzerland and France. He produced music for Electronic out Broading Caste and for Adrena Chrome, the same label of The Moover. But thanks to "Antisystem", a BMG album, sold and acclaimed all over the world, he draws the attention to himself. In 1990, in collaboration with Andrea Benedetti, he established the SNS, "Sounds Never Seen", the first experimental techno label in Italy, which turned him into a pillar of the electronic world scene and helped him release "Sound Never Seen" with the Aphex Twin "Rephlex" label in 2003. Among his works, it's important to remember the movie soundtracks of "Scarlet è viva" by Asia Argento and "Almost Blue", where the images of Alex Infascelli flow into the sound of Lory D, creating a game of screeching, softness and sharpness. His dj sets are a continuous exploration of techniques and a research in the universe of electronic and techno music, a research of unknown formulas still capable of arousing emotions. After a few years on break, Lory D has recently released 2 EPs with Scottish label Numbers, in the limelight for publishing new talents of the UK scene such as Jackmaster, Spencer, Dead Boy and Hudson Mohawke.
