HESSLE AUDIO SHOWCASE
Ben Ufo, Pangaea and Pearson Sound will perform for the Hessle Audio showcase, the record label they founded together in 2007. The label has soon burst on the scene of the record industry and has also become very popular thanks to its monthly residency at the famous Fabric club in London. Hessle Audio releases by Martyn, TRG, Untold and obviously Ramadanman helped the label to stand out, giving them the chance to play at important clubs such as Berghain and Cocoon. Thanks to this great experience, the three artists have managed to leave their own distinctive marks in the sound system culture.
BEN UFO
It is known by now that producing skills often do not correspond in equal DJ mixing abilities, or vice versa. Ben Thompson, known more by his moniker Ben Ufo, is proof of this. In fact, label manager Ben has been able to make a name for himself in the worldwide night clubbing scene without producing, and has performed in Brazil, Argentina and Japan, other than the European circuit, especially in the U.K. All thanks to an incredible skill in mixing records in his DJ sets, a talent that has made him, in the past two years, one of the most creative DJs of the U.K. scene. Ben has gained consensus thanks to his amazing “mixer” attitude: when he is working with his turntables, he has no time for chit-chat with anyone. In one hour, he plays between 25 and 30 records, always concentrated on searching for endless connections between past, present and future musical trends. The result? A mix of club classics, dubstep, electronica, grime, techno, garage and house.
PANGAEA
Born in West England, now resident in North London after studying in Leeds, Pangaea, a.k.a. Kevin Mc Auley, is recognized as one of the key producers and DJs of the avant-garde dance scene. He started composing very early on, but only in 2005, at the dawn of dubstep, does he take the ultimate step. Firstly involved with “Ruffage”, the first dubstep night in Leeds, he then creates Hessle Audio along with Ben Ufo and Pearson Sound, and with them he begins to launch the most original and innovative music of the last years, through artists such as Untold, James Blake, Blawan and, clearly, Pangaea and Ramadanman. His sound is hard to categorize, also because it is constantly mutating. House and techno influences are more apparent than other, but his music is deeply rooted in the various expressions of made-in-UK bass.
